Lava has been hot on the heels of rivals Micromax and Karbonn, and might have finally surpassed the competition in the budget-tablet arena with its latest offering. Lava recently announced the ETab Xtron, the company’s first Android 4.1 Jelly Bean tablet, and is only the second company to release a budget-friendly JB tablet.

Apart from boasting the (almost) latest OS, the specifications are also very impressive, especially when you consider the fact that the Lava Etab Xtron is priced at only $125 from online retailers Flipkart. With these specifications, the tablet will directly compete with the recently announced Acer Iconia B1, which will likely be priced a lot higher.
As has been the case with every tablet released by Lava, the ETab Xtron will come pre-loaded with a slew of apps, including Office Suite, Nimbuzz, Fusion music player, Adobe Reader, as well as games such as Pizza Ninja, Chess, Sudoku, Solitaire, Minesweeper, and Ping Pong.
The budget-tablet competition is heating up in India and I can’t wait to see what’s going to be on offer next! With hardware catching up to the rest of the world, and with prices being the way they are, Indian manufacturers should soon start making a name for themselves in the worldwide market as well.
