Suddenly, all the hype that surrounded the HTC One smartphone earlier known as M7 has vanished. The hype has turned into xcitement and has brought a competitive feel to the tech world and other manufacturers across the globe.

On Tuesday, HTC unveiled its newest flagship device in an event held jointly in New York City and London. With brand new and innovative the HTC offering has enthralled the tech enthusiasts and spectators making them spellbound.

From the launch of such an interesting smartphone with almost all good traits at the right time, it can be said that the Taiwanese tech firm, which has been struggling to mark its success in the global space that is dominated by rivals is hoping to get some fame for itself.

Speaking of the global smartphone market and the position of the manufacturers, it is clear that Samsung and Apple are the dominators that have occupied the first two positions. Other manufacturers including Sony, LG, HTC, Nokia and the rest are trying to get their brand to the throne of smartphone king.

Of these manufacturers, the topics of interest are HTC and Nokia. Both the companies are striving hard to establish themselves as strong players in the smartphone arena by coming up with high-end smartphones that are equipped with unique and distinguishing features. Anyways, both of them have loyal consumers who will stick to them, whatever the case is.

While HTC has come up with One, the monster offering that comes with impressive specs, Nokia has also come up with Lumia 920, its current flagship smartphone based on Windows Phone 8 OS. Though the handset is not selling like hotcake, it stacks up against the competition pretty well. It offers a nice mix of functionality and choice for the end-user.
After comparing HTC One with market leaders including Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5, it is a wise decision to compare it with Nokia Lumia 920 and analyze how well both the handsets stack up against each other.

Dimensions & Weight: HTC One boasts a dimension of 137.4 x 68.2 x 9.3 mm and weighs around 143 grams, whereas, Lumia 920 being thicker and heavier carries a dimension of 130.3 x 70.8 x 10.7 mm and weighs in at 185 grams.
Display: Evidentially, HTC has grabbed the royalty with its 4.7 inch Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen display packing 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, 468 ppi pixel density and Gorilla Glass 2 protection.

On the other hand, Lumia 920 packs a 4.5 inch PureMotion HD+ ClearBlack IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 1280 x 768 pixel resolution, 332 ppi pixel density and Gorilla Glass 2 protection.

While Super LCD 3 allows for high pixel densities and fastens the response time. At the same time, the PureMotion technology in the Nokia handset is also responsible for cutting off response time. Further, ClearBlack display technology of Nokia helps in reducing the reflections and improves the sunlight legibility.

However, in terms of pixel density, HTC One definitely comes out with flying colors owning to its eye-popping 468 ppi pixel density.

Processor: HTC One is equipped with a faster 1.7GHz quad core Qualcomm APQ8064T Snapdragon 600 processor. In comparison, Lumia 920 comes with a dual core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

Obviously, a faster and multi-core processor as in HTC One will take over the rest as it performs great multi-tasking, faster rendering and more.

Operating System: Contradictorily, HTC One comes with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS and Sense 5 UI, while, Lumia 920 is based on Microsoft Windows Phone 8 platform.
Detailing on software features, Jelly Bean OS has Project Butter, which offers faster, smoother and responsive performance, expandable and contractible Android notifications, resizable App Widgets functionality, high resolution contact photos, live wallpapers, Android Beam app and more.
On the other hand, Windows Phone 8 has improved features like dynamic Live Tile Information, social network integration in the People hub, Skydrive and Office 365 documents synchronization, Facebook-events integrated calendar, visual voicemail, threaded email conversations support and many more.
Camera: HTC One houses 4MP UltraPixel rear camera with BSI sensor, autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, face and smile detection, OIS (optical image stabilizer) and a 2.1MP front camera for video calling with HDR.

When it comes Lumia 920, the handset has an 8MP rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization, autofocus, dual-LED flash, PureView technology, geo-tagging and touch focus and a 1.3MP front camera for video calling.

HTC One is being talked about much as it is the first smartphone to come with ultrapixel camera, which is a technology that is similar to the one used in advanced compact cameras. This camera innovation captures more light and offers improved low-light performance.

Storage: In terms of storage, HTC One comes with 32GB/64GB internal storage and 2GB RAM, whereas, Lumia 920 has 32GB internal storage and 1GB RAM. However, both handsets do not have a micro SD card for expandable memory support.

Connectivity: Both HTC One and Lumia 920 have features including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G, HSPA, NFC and micro USB 2.0 port.

However, HTC One has high speed HSPA+ internet connectivity, which can download data with 100 Mbps speed as compared to Lumia 920 with 5.76 Mbps speed.

Battery: HTC One is loaded with a non-detachable 2,300 mAh battery of unknown backup and Lumia 920 is powered by a 2,000 mAh BP-4GW battery.

Price: While the official announcement of HTC One's price is yet to be made, it is claimed that the handset will be released in March. In India, HTC has partnered with RCom for releasing the smartphone.

On the other hand, Nokia released Lumia 920 in India in January bearing a whopping price tag of $ 700.

Software Features: HTC One with Sense 5 UI comes with features such as BlinkFeed, Zoe, BoomSound and Sense Voice for a enhanced user experience. On the other hand, Lumia 920 has groundbreaking features including glove friendly touchscreen display, Kids Corner, Wireless Charging, Smart Shoot and Cinematograph.

Both Lumia 920 and HTC One are advanced smartphones that have outstanding features in terms of software and hardware. Apart from this, they also have exciting software features as they are based on different platforms.

Specwise, HTC One could be a better choice, however, the final buying decision depends on the consumers based on which operating system they like to experience and on the price of the device.
