As we approach the end of the year, Android fanboys and girls are
anxiously awaiting even the smallest bit of news, leaks or rumors on the
next iteration of Google’s Nexus phone. Well, tonight’s juicy rumor
leap frogs over this year’s Nexus, and lands all the way onto next
year’s Samsung Galaxy S4. Yes, you read that right — FOUR. We don’t report every leaked shot of every rumored handset — there are
blogs for that — but we try to keep you informed about what’s out there
and what’s coming up. Lately, we’ve been hearing a number of new rumors
and leaks. Below is a list of the major smartphones we’re expecting to
see companies like Apple, Samsung, Sony, Nokia, HTC, and Motorola unveil
this fall.
10. Samsung Galaxy Premier
Samsung is one of the top mobile manufacturing company, which built big market share through Android Operating System. Galaxy Series is the top selling device in 2012. So they introduced another high budget premium phone, called Samsung Galaxy Premier. The main inspiration of Samsung Galaxy Premier is from Samsung Galaxy S II and Samsung Galaxy S III. Both of them are high budget phones. But they sell in record numbers. Samsung is the top market share mobile manufacturing company and Android has the top market share Operating System company. The features of Samsung Galaxy Premier are Android 4.1 Jelly bean operating system with TouchWiz launcher facility. It has 8 GB internal memory and 1 GB RAM. Phone has very big display, 720×1280 pixels. 8 MP primary camera and 1.9 MP secondary camera, provides better image capture facility. Also, it has 1080@30fps HD video recording facility. 1.9 MP secondary camera is used for video calling facility. External memory cards supports up to 32 GB and most of the data sharing facilities are available. It has relatively large 2100 mAh standard battery. ‘Near Field Communication’ facility available. Main disappointment from this phone has no 4G support and no dedicated camera key for image capturing. Also, it’s body is made up of plastics. It has relatively low brightness display due to PenTile matrix screen. The main feature of this phone has better GPU. It will be available in the first month of 2013. It’s price is around 520 EUR. So in India it will be available in US $ 670. So almost same price range like Samsung S III.
9. HTC DROID DNA
According November 2012, HTC is the 10th mobile manufacturing company. Their market share reduced from 2011. So they are looking for wide releasing of Android Smart phones at the end of 2012 and first month of 2013 to recapture their market share. HTC DROID DNA is one of the latest upcoming 4G smart phones from HTC with awesome operating system, Android. This phone was announced on November, 2012 and may be available in 21st November, 2012 or first month of 2013. It has Super LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors. It is a new generation touch screen after Super LCD2 capacitive touchscreen. It is a CDMA phone. Its display resolution is 1080×1920 pixels. So we can cannot difficult to mention it is phone or tablet. HTC Sense UI 4+ and Gorilla Glass 2 are the main display features with multi touch facility. 8 MP primary camera and 2.1 MP secondary camera provides better image capture. Android Jelly Bean Operating System and Quad- core 1.5 GHz processor are the main features. Samsung’s S III has only Quad- core 1.4 GHz processor. So it is one of the costly upcoming premium smart phones for HTC. 16 GB internal memory and 2 GB RAM are the two main features of this HTC DROID DNA.
8. Motorola Electrify M XT905
According November 2012, HTC is the 9th mobile manufacturing company.
Their market share reduced from 2.5 to 2.0. So they are looking for
wide releasing of Android Smart phones at the end of 2012 to recapture
their market share. Motorola Electrify M XT905 is one of the latest
upcoming 4G smart phones from Motorola with awesome operating system,
Android. This phone was announced on November, 2012 and may be available
in February, 2013. It has Super AMOLED Advanced capacitive touchscreen
with 16 million colors. It is a new generation touch screen after Super
AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. It is a CDMA phone. Its display
resolution is 540×960 pixels. Corning Gorilla Glass is the main display
features with multi touch.
7. Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
Sony Ericsson’s big comeback could come from this Android 2.3
“Gingerbread” phone with a razor-sharp screen, spectacular camera, and
the ability to be manipulated by your TV’s remote control. While the
company told us it wants to sell this phone here in the U.S, we’ve put
it in last place on this list because Sony Ericsson has a lousy track
record of getting its phones picked up by U.S. carriers. If it does
appear, the Xperia Arc will most likely show up on AT&T.
Also notable: Sony Ericsson is expected to debut a “PlayStation
phone” next month, though we don’t know whether that’s ever coming to
the U.S. We should know more when MWC commences on Feb. 13.
6. T-Mobile Sidekick 4G
The T-Mobile Sidekick is a cult device with an intensely faithful
following. After Sidekick-maker Danger was bought by Microsoft, fans
thought they’d never see a new model. T-Mobile recently said the
Sidekick is coming back as a 4G HSPA+ Android phone, but didn’t give
many details. This image seems to hint that it will eschew a swiveling
screen for a slider design.
5. Facebook Phone
The new smartphone will be made in joint with HTC and will offer
Facebook’s own version of a mobile operating system. Some have
speculated that Facebook may use a version of the Android mobile
operating system, since it can be modified, but that part is unclear for
now. It had been exactly three months since reports of Facebook’s (FB)
rumored smartphone resurfaced, so we were definitely due. The social
networking giant is set to post its first ever earnings report on
Thursday after the market closes but until then, investors get to wonder
what might come of a new Bloomberg report issued on Wednesday evening.
4. Nexus 5
The Nexus 4 is out, it’s cheap, and it’s unlocked. Those two features
combined for a quick sell out and unfortunately, a bunch of headaches
for customers. What’s clear though, is that there is a demand for the
Nexus which offers quick updates and a vanilla version of Android that
can’t be found on other smartphones.
With the Nexus 5, Google may opt for a return to 4G LTE, something
that the masses wanted from the Nexus 4 but did not get. With Galaxy
Nexus owners coming off-contract, the timing may be right
3. Nokia Lumia 9xx
Look for the company to tack on an even better PureView camera while making design and hardware improvements across the board. If it can keep that $99 price point, it should be an attractive release.
2. Galaxy Note 3
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is already selling well and given its
success, we fully expect Samsung to release a third Samsung Galaxy Note
device at some point next year.
Because the Galaxy Note 2 is so new, there is zero information out
about Samsung’s plans but expect the device to wield some fancy
upgrades. A 5.5-inch full HD 1080p display would certainly be something
that could lure in customers. Expect Samsung to devise some newer killer
software for the Galaxy Note 3 as well.
1. Samsung Galaxy S4
Samsung has yet to confirm any of the reports on specs, but here is
what we know. It’s expected that the Galaxy S4 will sport a quad-core
processor and depending on the country, will feature Samsung’s Exynos
processor or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon. The OLED screen will be larger than
that of its predecessor, the S3 (4.8 inches), and the iPhone 5’s (4
inches) – most likely 5 minches. It will also sport 4G LTE connectivity
and an Android OS. All of these rumored specs look to build upon the
already impressive Galaxy S3 which boasts a 4.8 inch 720p HD display, 4G
LTE connectivity, Android’s 4.0 OS, and a reasonable contracted price
of $199. We have included some of the mock ups of what the Samsung
Galaxy S4 might look like.
